Step into the heartbeat of Lisbon’s startup scene as Canopy Community hosts DemoNightLx, our signature showcase for early-stage founders. Expect energy, ideas, and inspiration as brilliant startups demo live and you get an opportunity to ask your questions.
Your hosts for the evening — Matt Ville and Jana Garous — bring warmth, wit, and founder empathy to the stage.
Guiding the panel conversation is Pedro Guimarães, a respected voice in Portugal’s venture ecosystem.
Whether you’re a founder, mentor, or investor, you’ll find connection, collaboration, and opportunity. Many of the Canopy team will be there too — ready to chat about our global founder community, virtual incubation programmes, and how we help startups move from idea to investment.

How Demo Night Works
Each founder will have 5 minutes to demo their startup, followed by 5 minutes of open Q&A. Our panel will lead with the first reflection — then it’s over to you, the audience, to dive in with your questions, feedback, insights, and ideas.
At Canopy Demo Night, our mission is simple: to help every founder get one step closer to success — and avoid the number one reason startups fail — building something no one wants or needs.
Throughout the evening, you’ll be able to view slides, vote, and comment in real time using menti.com and the event code displayed on screen. It’s interactive, fast-paced, and community-powered — just how founders like it.
At the end of the night, you’ll have your say by voting for your favourite demo. The top-voted founder will be crowned People’s Choice of Web Summit Week — a celebration of creativity, courage, and connection within our global founder community.

Jana Garous
As the COO in Residence Jana has co-hosted a number of demo nights this year in London.Â
Jana is also the Co-Founder of IYA Group, a consultancy based in London.
Pedro Guimarães
As the CEO in Residence, Pedro has hosted a number of events and demo nights in Lisbon this year.
Pedro is a consultant and Founder of multiple companies.
The Demos tonight
On the night we have 4 startup demos and 1 investor reverse pitch.
Two of the demos tonight are visiting Lisbon. Rita joins us from London and Willie from Taiwan.Â

Rita was the People's Choice award winner from the London Tech Week edition of demo night held in June.Â
Rita is visiting Lisbon this week, from London. She was invited to bring her story as part of the prize for winning the award in June. As part of her visit Pioneering People are doing a test and learn trial to see if Lisbon could be the next city on their expansion list.Â
Rita is originally from Kosovo, and is based in London.
London Demo Nights are held in partnership with City St George's University of London, where Rita is part of the City Ventures program.
