Today, Canopy hosted its first Casual Co-Working Day at Northeastern University London’s Startup Hub, marking a new chapter in how our founder community connects and collaborates in the City.

The Startup Hub — nestled near Tower Hill — filled quickly with the quiet hum of founders deep in focus, the clink of coffee cups, and the rhythm of spontaneous conversation. It was a space designed for progress: MVPs being shaped, pitch decks refined, and collaborations sparked between like-minded entrepreneurs and Northeastern students.

This new format sits at the intersection of community, creativity, and startup growth — giving first-time founders a monthly anchor point in London. For those building across Lisbon, Boston, and the UK, it’s a flexible base to think, work, and belong.

“We’re running these casual co-working days as a bit of an experiment to bring our community together in London once a month,” said Stewart Noakes, Co-Founder of Canopy. “Lots of us travel and land in London occasionally, not permanently, and it’s a nice way to be with like-minded souls when we are. Our goal is also for as many Canopy Founders as possible to get to know Northeastern in our quest to support the pathway for students to get opportunities of work experience, internships and co-ops.”

Why this matters for early-stage founders

For first-time founders, isolation is one of the biggest challenges. The journey from idea to MVP to investment can feel lonely — especially if your team is distributed or you’re balancing work, study, or family life. These co-working days provide a way to stay connected, exchange ideas, and share the energy of progress with others who understand the startup grind.

The partnership between Canopy Community and Northeastern University London gives members access to one of the most inspiring startup environments in the capital. Founders can hot desk for free, meet investors and mentors, and collaborate with students eager to gain hands-on experience in innovation. It’s an ecosystem designed to accelerate learning and real-world impact.

A bridge between founders and students

For Northeastern students, these events are a window into startup life — offering the chance to gain internships, co-op placements, and project experience. For founders, it’s a way to access fresh talent, new perspectives, and the energy of the next generation of problem-solvers.

As one founder put it, “I came for a desk, but left with a new idea — and a potential intern.”

The next step in the Canopy x Northeastern journey

This collaboration is part of Canopy’s wider mission to connect startup ecosystems across London, Lisbon, and Boston. The Startup Hub gives members a global base with local belonging — and a new way to bridge the gap between building and belonging.

If you’re a founder looking for early validation, investment readiness, or just a place to work alongside others on the same journey, join the next Canopy Casual Co-Working Day. No formality, no pitch decks — just community, creativity, and connection.
