This summer, Canopy Community is opening the doors to Startup Summer, a six-week virtual programme designed to help anyone, anywhere in the world take the first meaningful steps towards building a startup.
Whether you're a student with an idea, a professional exploring a side venture, a parent returning to entrepreneurship, or simply someone who has always wondered "what if?", Startup Summer provides the structure, support and confidence to move from concept to action.
About Canopy Community
Canopy Community is an internationally recognised founder community and virtual incubator. The platform supports entrepreneurs through expert guidance, practical education and peer learning. Recognised by the Financial Times as one of Europe's leading startup hubs, Canopy exists to reduce barriers to entrepreneurship. By making high-quality startup support accessible to founders regardless of their background, geography or stage of development, Canopy helps founders build confidence, develop capability, and create ventures with lasting impact.
How does this work?
Many entrepreneurship programmes assume participants can dedicate full working days to workshops or accelerators. Startup Summer takes a different approach. Instead of rigid timetables, participants progress through high-quality learning content at their own pace, while remaining connected to a supportive cohort throughout the six weeks.
Recognising that many aspiring founders are balancing careers, family commitments, holidays and everyday responsibilities, Canopy has created a learning experience that adapts to participants' lives, rather than expecting life to adapt to the programme.
We build around real life, not perfect schedules.
Who Is It For?
Designed for first-time founders, Startup Summer has been created specifically for people at the beginning of their entrepreneurial journey. No previous startup experience is required.Participants do not need a registered company, investment or a fully formed business plan. An idea, a curiosity or a problem worth solving is enough.
Our goal is for you to begin building your idea without needing to pause your career, sacrifice family time, or relocate to an accelerator.
The Startup Summer model is particularly well suited for working parents, especially mothers, who often face the challenge of balancing personal development with family responsibilities during the summer months.
The programme is equally valuable for university students aged 18 and up, who are exploring entrepreneurship for the first time. We welcome everyone from professionals considering a side venture, career changers, recent graduates, to people who simply want structured guidance to begin.
For students, first-time founders and anyone ready to explore entrepreneurship, Startup Summer offers an accessible pathway into building something new—with the support of a global community every step of the way.
Content
The programme runs for six weeks, and is delivered virtually, and in English. It combines flexible online learning, weekly cohort sessions, and on-demand mentoring, in order to help participants transform their ideas into meaningful progress.
Participants receive structured, asynchronous learning modules that guide them through the earliest stages of startup creation. They will grow from understanding customer problems and validating ideas to communicating their value proposition and planning next steps.Because the content is available on demand, participants can learn whenever suits them, whether that's early in the morning, during a lunch break or after children have gone to bed.
Peer Support
Entrepreneurship can feel isolating, particularly for first-time founders.Throughout the programme, participants become part of both a dedicated cohort and the wider Canopy Community, connecting with ambitious people from different countries, industries and backgrounds who are navigating similar challenges.Weekly group check-in sessions provide an opportunity to discuss progress, receive constructive feedback and celebrate milestones together.
Expert Support
Every participant also gains access to Canopy's experienced network of startup coaches, founders and mentors.
Rather than relying solely on scheduled office hours, participants can book one-to-one conversations with experts at times that work for them, allowing personalised guidance precisely when it is needed.
Our in residence team is fully equipped to give feedback, be a listening ear, or provide an outside perspective for your startup idea.
